Softball Recap: Rutland Has No Trouble Against Howard

Rutland won the last time they faced Howard and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Hurricanes were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Huskies. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hurricanes.

Harley Adkison made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Adkison was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Newberry, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Kadian, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Rutland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 2.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.

Rutland's record now sits at 2-8. As for Howard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
