Soccer Game Preview: Castro Valley vs. Encinal

The Castro Valley Trojans will head out to square off against the Encinal Jets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

On Friday, Castro Valley and Berkeley finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw.

Castro Valley was without their leading scorer, Kiana Ayllon, in Friday's matchup. With Ayllon sidelined, Cassidy Berg got her first action of the season.

Meanwhile, Encinal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 12-0 to Bishop O'Dowd. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 799th, while the Dragons are ranked 38th).

Castro Valley's draw makes their record 5-6-2 this season. As for Encinal, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Castro Valley took their victory against Encinal in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Castro Valley since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
