Basketball Recap: West Mifflin Takes a Loss

West Mifflin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by the Greensburg Salem Golden Lions 56-28.

Greensburg Salem got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Bekerleg out in front who posted eight points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bekerleg a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Heasley, who had 17 points.

West Mifflin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Greensburg Salem, they moved to 8-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

West Mifflin and Greensburg Salem could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. West Mifflin (ranked 421st) will meet Greater Latrobe (ranked 148th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Greensburg Salem (ranked 254th) will meet Penn-Trafford (ranked 13th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
