Basketball Recap: Mar Vista Takes a Loss

Mar Vista was the 47-40 winner over Castle Park when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Mar Vista Mariners fell just short of the Castle Park Trojans by a score of 33-31 on Thursday. The Mariners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Mar Vista still got an impressive performance from Allyson Bell, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 19 rebounds. Bell has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anissa Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Castle Park was led to victory by Monserrat Medrano and Leilani Roche. Medrano posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and four steals, while Roche scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Roche a new career-high in boards. Andrea Garcia-Dumer was another key player, putting up four points.

Mar Vista's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Castle Park, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14.

As of now, neither Mar Vista nor Castle Park have any future games scheduled.
