Recap: Mars Fightin' Planets vs. Armstrong River Hawks

The Mars Fightin' Planets lost against the Armstrong River Hawks on January 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Mars received a tough blow as they fell 53-35 to the River Hawks. While losing is never fun, Mars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the River Hawks are ranked 92nd).

Despite the defeat, Mars saw an underclassman step up: Alexis Cashdollar almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Cashdollar scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Mya Moore, who scored four points along with two blocks.

Mars has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Armstrong, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Mars will be playing at home against the Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Armstrong will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Gators at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th.
