Volleyball Recap: Southwest Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Southwest, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the St. Francis Indians on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Roughriders in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.

While Southwest won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-23.

Anikka Nelms paced Southwest's offense, picking up ten kills. Nelms got some help from Aspen Billeter and her 17 assists. Billeter was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Southwest's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for St. Francis, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Coincidentally, Southwest and St. Francis will both be playing Decatur Community the next time they take the court. The Roughriders will host the Red Devils on Tuesday, while the Indians will play them later in the day, at 5:45 p.m.
