Softball Recap: Niwot Takes a Loss

If Niwot was riding high fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Mullen on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars came up short against the Berthoud Spartans on Saturday, falling 9-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost six in a row.

Niwot saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mandy Roth, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Anna Halverson was another, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Niwot's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Berthoud, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Coincidentally, Niwot and Berthoud will both be playing Fort Collins the next time they take the field. The Cougars will head out to face the Lambkins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
