Basketball Game Preview: Venture Academy Mustangs vs. Aspire Langston Hughes Academy Titans

The Venture Academy Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Aspire Langston Hughes Academy Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Venture Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Venture Academy will head into Thursday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 27-point drubbing they dealt Turlock Christian on Thursday. Venture Academy took their contest with ease, bagging a 53-26 win over Turlock Christian. That looming 53-26 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.

Kelyiana Neal was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Venture Academy's points. Kimora Crawford was another key player, putting up six points in addition to 17 rebounds and six steals.

Venture Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Aspire Langston Hughes Academy didn't have too much trouble with River Islands on Friday as they won 43-26. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by exactly 17 points.

Venture Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Aspire Langston Hughes Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.

Venture Academy came up short against Aspire Langston Hughes Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, falling 36-24. Can Venture Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
