Basketball Recap: Shannon Yan Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Gabrielino won the last time they faced Marshall and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Gabrielino Eagles walked away with a 43-30 win over the Marshall Eagles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Gabrielino.

Gabrielino's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shannon Yan, who posted 12 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Yan a new career-high. Ava Yamashita was another key player, putting up 16 points and eight rebounds.

Gabrielino's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Marshall, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Gabrielino and Marshall could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Gabrielino (ranked 738th) will meet Arcadia (ranked 307th) at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Marshall (ranked 1036th) will meet Rosemead (ranked 455th) at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
