Baseball Recap: North Quincy Gets the Win

While North Quincy's win against Plymouth South wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Raiders narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Panthers 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Nick Ambroult tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max LaMonica, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmitt Allen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory got North Quincy back to even at 9-9. As for Plymouth South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11-2.

Coming up, North Quincy will be playing at home against Hanover at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Plymouth South, they will head out to square off against Quincy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
