Football Game Preview: First Flight Nighthawks vs. Hertford County Bears

First Flight is 1-9 against Hertford County since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Nighthawks will host the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when First Flight and Pasquotank County meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Nighthawks took a blow against the Panthers, falling 56-0.

Meanwhile, Hertford County played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Northeastern, falling 31-6. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.

Hertford County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for First Flight, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

First Flight was taken down by Hertford County 44-13 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Nighthawks, Derek Joyner (who rushed for 159 yards and three scores on only 11 carries, and also threw for 38 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
