Baseball Preview: Parkview Panthers vs. Northside Christian Mustangs
The Parkview Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Northside Christian Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the field. Parkview walked away with a 6-3 victory over IMG Academy. The win was familiar territory for Parkview who now have three in a row.
Thorpe Musci tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Kason Gleaton picked up the save, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also only allowed one walk).
At the plate, Makhi Buckley and Adrian Jimenez did most of the damage at the plate: Buckley scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Jimenez scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Northside Christian stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Strong Rock Christian 8-1. The victory was just what Northside Christian needed coming off of a 10-0 loss in their prior matchup.
Dylan Young looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (he also didn't allow any walks).
On the hitting side, William Gregory was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. Danilo Soto was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Parkview is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Northside Christian, their record is now 11-5.
