Football Recap: Cordova Drops Season-High Score on Kennedy

Cordova's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Kennedy Cougars by a score of 19-6. The Lancers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Trey Wallace was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 121 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries, and also threw for 103 yards and one touchdown on only six passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (149.3). Damajae Moses also helped out with an impressive 87 receiving yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cordova's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Julian Drahn, Chicago Bush, and Antonio West, who each picked up one sack apiece. Cordova got some further help from Drahn: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made eight total tackles (4.0 for loss).

The victory snapped Cordova's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record. As for Kennedy, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, Cordova will venture away from home to square off against McClatchy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Kennedy, they will host Viewpoint at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
