Softball Recap: Legacy Lightning vs. Holy Family Tigers
Legacy had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 5-8 to make it five. They lost 14-2 to the Holy Family Tigers. The Lightning were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
Legacy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Sandusky, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Holy Family, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.
On Holy Family's side, Jaelyn Sandoval and Giuliana Magnetti did most of the damage at the plate: Sandoval went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Magnetti went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Sandoval has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Devereux, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Legacy has already played their next contest, a 14-12 victory against Rocky Mountain on the 19th. As for Holy Family, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-0 win against Mead on the 25th.
