Football Recap: Mexia Falls Despite Big Games from Ja'darrius Davis and Markaveon Boyd + How To Watch

There was early excitement for Mexia after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was C.H. Yoe who ended up claiming the real prize. The Black Cats took a 42-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yoemen. Even if the Black Cats couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Despite the loss, Mexia had strong showings from Markaveon Boyd, who rushed for 180 yards and one TD while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and Ja'Darrius Davis, who threw for 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Boyd was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.

Mexia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Braylon Anderson and Jeremiah Middleton. Kash Williams was another major factor on D, making 17 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

C.H. Yoe's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was De'Marques Lopez-Pinchback, who rushed for 105 yards and one score, and also picked up 72 receiving yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Jacoby Scott, who threw for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Mexia dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for C.H. Yoe, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Mexia and C.H. Yoe will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Black Cats see the field they'll take on Groesbeck at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. As for C.H. Yoe, their break will end when they face McGregor at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th.
