Baseball Game Preview: Union County Panthers vs. Coahulla Creek Colts

The Union County Panthers will face off against the Coahulla Creek Colts at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Union County's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Murray County 7-0.

The result came thanks to Tyler Richards's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Union County let Lane Haney and Hayden Hughes run wild. Haney scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Hughes scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Hughes has become a key player for Union County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maddox Patton, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Union County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Coahulla Creek had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over North Murray on Friday.

Coahulla Creek's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Union County, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
