Basketball Game Preview: Salinas Cowboys vs. Antioch Panthers

The Salinas Cowboys and the Antioch Panthers will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Salinas saw some tournament action on Friday. The contest between them and Valley Christian didn't end well, with Salinas falling 51-36. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 545th, while the Warriors are ranked 62nd).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Alice Uchida, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jennifer Rivera, who had ten points.

Meanwhile, Antioch came up short against Willow Glen on Friday, falling 70-48. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Antioch now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Salinas, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
