Basketball Game Preview: Baldwin Park Braves vs. Sierra Vista Dons

Baldwin Park hasn't had much luck against Sierra Vista recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Baldwin Park Braves will venture away from home to face off against the Sierra Vista Dons at 4:45 p.m.

Baldwin Park is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 44-20 to Duarte.

Meanwhile, Sierra Vista entered their tilt with Nogales on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Nobles with a sharp 54-34 victory. The Dons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Baldwin Park better focus on containing Cailei Buna and Zaira Eulloque as the pair were huge in Sierra Vista's win. Buna dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 assists, while Eulloque went 7 for 12 en route to 16 points and three steals. Eulloque's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Haro, who posted four points in addition to 13 rebounds and three steals.

Sierra Vista was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Sierra Vista's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Baldwin Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Baldwin Park was taken down by Sierra Vista 58-10 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Baldwin Park avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
