Basketball Recap: Citrus Takes a Loss

If Citrus was riding high fresh off their 66-28 takedown of Lake Weir last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hurricanes took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dunnellon Tigers on Tuesday. The Hurricanes haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the loss, Citrus saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Macy Roth dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Roth also set a new season-high mark in blocks with three. Zoey Houle was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven boards.

Citrus' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Dunnellon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Citrus has already played their next matchup, a 60-56 loss against Belleview on the 4th. As for Dunnellon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-35 victory against Eastside on the 4th.
