Basketball Recap: Santa Fe's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Fe). They blew past the Montebello Oilers, posting a 70-13 win. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 29 points or more this season.

Santa Fe found their leader in sophomore Roxy Beltran, who went 8 for 9 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for Beltran. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Cetina, who posted nine points and four steals.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.5 points per game. As for Montebello, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Santa Fe will take on Sierra Vista at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Fe's defense has only allowed 20.5 points per game this season, so Sierra Vista's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Montebello, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Arroyo at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
