Basketball Game Preview: Menlo School Knights vs. Notre Dame Tigers

The Menlo School Knights will challenge the Notre Dame Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Menlo School is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They breezed past Pacific Grove to the tune of 61-27. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Menlo School had a senior duo take command as Karen Xin went 8-for-12 on her way to 24 points in addition to six assists and five boards and Ruiqi Liu dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most rebounds Liu has posted since back in December of 2024. Ava Allen was another key player, putting up five points.

Menlo School was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They are 13-1 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame strolled past Scotts Valley with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 58-42.

The win made it two in a row for Menlo School and bumps their season record up to 16-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points over those games. As for Notre Dame, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-8.

Menlo School beat Notre Dame 45-33 in their previous meeting back in January. Does Menlo School have another victory up their sleeve, or will Notre Dame turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
