The Nitro Wildcats will head out to challenge the Capital Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nitro is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.7 goals per game this season.

Nitro will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal last Saturday, then bounced right back against Buffalo on Thursday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 7-0 win. Given Nitro's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Buffalo are ranked 64th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nitro's offense was hitting Buffalo from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Bayleigh Elkins led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Capital entered their matchup against George Washington on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cougars fell 3-1 to the Patriots. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Capital couldn't quite close it out.

Nitro pushed their record up to 9-3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five contests. As for Capital, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 6-4-3.

Everything went Nitro's way against Capital when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Nitro made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
