Softball Recap: Chattahoochee Comes Up Short

Chattahoochee had lost eight straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-16 to make it nine. They came up short against the Lanier Longhorns, falling 15-0. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly 15 runs.

As for Lanier, their record is now 10-13. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Lanier's part, Lindsay Sisk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Sisk has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sanai Hampton was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Carol Rubio-Hurtado was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Chattahoochee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lanier, they have already played their next contest, an 11-1 win against Gainesville on the 7th.
