Softball Recap: St. Joseph's Academy Comes Up Short

St. Joseph's Academy was the 7-6 winner over Hazelwood West when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Angels fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Angels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

St. Joseph's Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julie Origliasso, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Alana Malone also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

St. Joseph's Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Hazelwood West, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. St. Joseph's Academy will take on Ursuline Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Angels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hazelwood West, they will square off against Kirkwood at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
