Recap: South Allegheny Gladiators vs. Avonworth Antelopes
The South Allegheny Gladiators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Avonworth at home and fell 50-13. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Allegheny in their matchups with Avonworth: they've now lost nine in a row.
South Allegheny got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Keelyn Hamilton and
Paige Dodds, who each put up three points.
Mira Morninstar took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
South Allegheny has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Avonworth, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.
South Allegheny will head out on the road to face off against East Allegheny at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. East Allegheny comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Avonworth, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Avonworth is ranked 70th).
