Basketball Recap: Reagan Bennett Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hoover

La Jolla lost to Hoover back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The La Jolla Vikings secured a 57-51 W over the Hoover Cardinals. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

La Jolla's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reagan Bennett, who posted 19 points. What's more, Bennett also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Drew Bennett was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

La Jolla smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

La Jolla's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Hoover, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Jolla has already played their next contest (against Mt. Carmel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hoover has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Academy of Our Lady of Peace.
