Basketball Recap: Poly Takes a Loss

Poly played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Valley View Eagles 64-29. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Poly saw an underclassman step up: freshman Abby Folsom posted ten points. That was a full 34.5% of Poly's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Leading Valley View to victory were Mason Long and Jada Booten. Long went 7 for 13 en route to 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Booten dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. The game was Booten's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was A'Rae Gaines, who put up four points and eight boards.

Poly's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Valley View, their record now sits at 15-12.

Poly didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-41 victory against JW North on the 1st. As for Valley View, they will venture away from home to take on Paloma Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Valley View is facing Paloma Valley at the right time seeing as Paloma Valley is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
