Softball Recap: Academy for Classical Education Takes a Loss

After flying high against Northeast on Tuesday, Academy for Classical Education came back down to earth. The Gryphons fell 11-6 to the Vidalia Indians on Wednesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Gryphons, who until this match were averaging 4.04 runs allowed.

Avery Stone was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Avery Edalgo was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Academy for Classical Education dropped their record down to 17-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Vidalia, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Academy for Classical Education will square off against East Laurens at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gryphons 4, the Falcons 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Vidalia, they will head out to challenge Toombs County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
