Baseball Game Preview: Montgomery Vikings vs. Branson Bulls

The Montgomery Vikings will take on the Branson Bulls at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Montgomery fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Analy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 7-6. The Vikings' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Branson rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Pride as they made off with an 11-1 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bulls' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Colby Buxton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Treyvor Mathews was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Branson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Branson's victory bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10-1.
