Basketball Recap: Jaidin Frayer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cochranton over Moniteau

Cochranton was the 33-31 winner over Moniteau when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cardinals took a 41-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Wednesday.

Cochranton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaidin Frayer, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Alaina Shorts, who earned five points along with ten boards and six assists.

Moniteau can attribute much of their success to Emily Matz, who went 6-for-13 en route to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Matz has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Thompson, who shot 42% from the field to rack up 11 points.

Cochranton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Moniteau, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Cochranton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 41-31 loss against West Middlesex on the 6th. As for Moniteau, they have also already played their next matchup, a 56-34 defeat against Karns City on the 5th.
