Recap: Clearwater Academy International Knights vs. Lakeland Dreadnaughts
The Clearwater Academy International Knights won against the Lakeland Dreadnaughts last Friday with 35 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Clearwater Academy International made off with a 35-34 win over Lakeland. The win was nothing new for Clearwater Academy International as they're now sitting on four straight.
It was another big night for Antwan Raymond, who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Raymond is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. Christoper Cresser got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Clearwater Academy International's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Samuel Ehret and his two sacks.
Lakeland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jayren ?pat? dennis, who picked up 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Zander Smith, who threw for 176 yards and three touchdowns.
Clearwater Academy International's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 4-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.7 points per game. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clearwater Academy International will take on University Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. University Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Clearwater Academy International is ranked 32nd). As for Lakeland, they will play host again and welcome Kathleen, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
