Softball Game Preview: Chandler Lions vs. Latta Panthers

The Chandler Lions will face off against the Latta Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Chandler is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Roland get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Kennedy Allen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten contests.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blaklei Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. Halle Herrmann was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Latta made easy work of Wyandotte on Thursday and carried off a 9-1 victory. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Chandler's record now sits at 26-3. As for Latta, their record is now 25-8.

Chandler couldn't quite finish off Latta in their previous meeting back in September of 2023 and fell 7-5. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
