The Eagle Rock Eagles will face off against the Lincoln Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lincoln will be up against a hot Eagle Rock squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Eagles simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Marshall 41-7. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-0.
Melion Busano was his usual excellent self, rushing for 107 yards and three scores, while also picking up 90 receiving yards. Liam Pasten was another key player, throwing for 267 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Eagle Rock was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln). They put the hurt on Hollywood with a sharp 55-35 win last Friday. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly 20 points.
Eagle Rock better keep an eye on Andrew Evangelista. He was instrumental in Lincoln's win, rushing for 61 yards and two TDs on only five carries, while also throwing for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Another rusher making a difference was Max Navarro, who rushed for 119 yards on only 15 carries.
Lincoln didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Andrew Ayon, Julian Mungia, and Alejandro Cervantes picked up one apiece. Mungia got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Lincoln, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Andres Pereda, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Eagle Rock's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Everything came up roses for Eagle Rock against Lincoln in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 46-7 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
