Volleyball Recap: CORE Butte Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oroville, CORE Butte was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Trinity Wolves.

CORE Butte can attribute much of their success to Mara Gonzalez, who had 17 digs. Those 17 digs gave Gonzalez a new career-high.

CORE Butte was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matchups.

CORE Butte has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Trinity, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Coincidentally, CORE Butte and Trinity will both be playing Central Valley the next time they take the court. The Lynx will head out to face the Falcons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Wolves will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
