Basketball Recap: Bishop O'Dowd Takes a Loss

Bishop O'Dowd was the 59-38 winner over Basha when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Dragons fell 68-59 to the Bears on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 131st in California, while the Bears are ranked 25th in Arizona).

Bishop O'Dowd has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Basha, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Bishop O'Dowd and Basha will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Dragons see the court they'll take on Castro Valley at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2026. As for Basha, their break will end when they face Ironwood Ridge at 1:30 p.m. on January 2, 2026.
