Recap: Poway Titans vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils
The Poway Titans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They really took it to Mt. Carmel for the full four quarters, racking up a 81-29 win at home. Poway might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Poway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Katelyn Johnson, who scored 26 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Poway's points. Ari Mason was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Poway is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Mt. Carmel, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poway will take on Torrey Pines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Torrey Pines is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Mt. Carmel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westview presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mt. Carmel in California (Westview is ranked 37th, while Mt. Carmel is ranked 849th).
