Softball Recap: Westminster Takes a Loss

After flying high against Adams City on Friday, Westminster came back down to earth. The Wolves took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thornton Trojans on Monday. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Vanessa Castillo Vargas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Armani Espinoza also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Westminster now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Thornton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2-1 record this season.

Westminster will host Riverdale Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Thornton, they are taking a road trip to face off against Skyline at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
