Football Recap: Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Piles Up the Points Against North Greene + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calhoun/Brussels, Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the North Greene Spartans 65-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Leading Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia to victory were Will Burton and Avery Neathrey. Burton rushed for 80 yards and three scores, while Neathrey threw for 126 yards and a pair of TDs. Neathrey was even better on defense, picking up two sacks and making seven total tackles (6.0 for loss).

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia proved: they limited North Greene to a paltry 0.4 yards per carry. While one picked up at least four total tackles, Burton stood above the rest. He rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns. Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.9.

Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. North Greene's QB won't forget Neathrey anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

The victory got Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia back to even at 1-1. As for North Greene, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia and North Greene could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Trojans will take on Camp Point Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (440 vs. 38). Meanwhile, North Greene (ranked 506th) will meet West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] (ranked 237th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
