Softball Game Preview: Joseph City Wildcats vs. Duncan Wildkats

The Joseph City Wildcats will square off against the Duncan Wildkats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Joseph City's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Desert Heights Prep with a sharp 24-0 win. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Duncan got the win against Mogollon on Friday by a conclusive 13-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildkats.

Reymia Contreras made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Paisley Patton was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Khloe Brown, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

Duncan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Duncan pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Joseph City, their victory bumped their record up to 23-4.
