Baseball Game Preview: Dublin Fighting Irish vs. Jefferson County Warriors

The Dublin Fighting Irish will face off against the Jefferson County Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dublin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, everything went Dublin's way against Washington County as Dublin made off with a 9-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Irish.

Landyn Horne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Tyrese Robinson was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Dublin is undefeated when Robinson posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Jeff Davis was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Jefferson County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Northeast 16-15. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Mason Tungate, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances. Those runs were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Landon Schmidt, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Dublin's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson County, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-6.

Dublin skirted past Jefferson County 8-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Dublin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jefferson County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
