Kennedy hasn't had much luck against James Logan recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Kennedy Titans will venture away from home to square off against the James Logan Colts at 7:00 p.m.
Kennedy is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 57-36 to Moreau Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 731st, while the Mariners are ranked 185th).
Kennedy might have lost, but man, Payton Siquig was a machine: she posted 24 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Izabella Velazquez, who scored two points and six boards.
Meanwhile, James Logan entered their tilt with Newark Memorial on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Cougars 43-24.
Kennedy better keep an eye on Tyliyah Miller. She was instrumental in James Logan's win, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Momo Johnson, who had eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.
James Logan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.
James Logan's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. As for Kennedy, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Kennedy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like James Logan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Kennedy was dealt a bruising 68-30 loss at the hands of James Logan in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Kennedy, Cierra Gallardo (who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
