Basketball Game Preview: Chaparral Pumas vs. Temecula Valley Golden Bears

Chaparral has gone 8-2 against Temecula Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Chaparral Pumas will be playing at home against the Temecula Valley Golden Bears at 5:30 p.m. Chaparral is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season.

Last Wednesday, Chaparral earned a 56-44 victory over Murrieta Mesa.

Chaparral found their leader in sophomore Zetta Faasua, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Faasua's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Costello, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 14 points.

Chaparral was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Murrieta Mesa only racked up three assists.

Meanwhile, Temecula Valley came up short against Vista Murrieta on Wednesday and fell 47-36.

Chaparral's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Temecula Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season.

Chaparral didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Temecula Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 43-39 victory. Will Chaparral repeat their success, or does Temecula Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
