California Lutheran snaps 12-game streak of wins on the road

Recap: California Lutheran C-Hawks vs. United Christian Academy Eagles

After a string of 12 wins, the California Lutheran C-Hawks's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of United Christian Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as California Lutheran came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while United Christian Academy is ranked 556th).

California Lutheran lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Allison Schroeder, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kiera Schroeder, who scored 16 points along with two steals.

United Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Estrada, who scored 15 points along with seven steals and two blocks. Estrada hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordin Edwards, who scored ten points along with eight assists and three steals.

California Lutheran's defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-2. As for United Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

California Lutheran will be playing at home against La Sierra Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for United Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge California School for the Deaf-Riverside at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
