Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Johnston). They breezed past the Pilgrim Patriots to the tune of  43-7 on Friday. With the Panthers ahead  28-7 at the half, the  game was all but over already.
Leading Johnston to victory were  Ethan Archambeault and  Michael Messina.  Archambeault threw for 161 yards and a pair of  touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, while  Messina gained 90 total yards and a touchdown. Messina showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 56 yards.
 Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Johnston proved: they limited Pilgrim to a paltry three yards per carry. The Panthers' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.2.
The  victory was  the fifth in a row for Johnston, bringing their record up to 7-1. Those  wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.2 points on average over those games. As for Pilgrim,  they are  on  a  seven-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-7.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Johnston will  challenge  rival Classical  at 6:00  p.m.  on November 1. The two teams have allowed few  points on average (the Panthers 13.1, the Purple 6.8) so any  points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pilgrim is set to  take on  their familiar foe Ponaganset  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
