Recap: Conneaut Area Eagles vs. Northwestern Wildcats
The Conneaut Area Eagles were the 46-41 winner over the Northwestern Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Conneaut Area received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 52-37 to Northwestern. While losing is never fun, Conneaut Area can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Northwestern is ranked 99th).
Northwestern's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makayla Presser-Palmer led the charge by scoring 24 points. The game was Presser-Palmer's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Stagl, who scored 13 points.
Conneaut Area's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2. As for Northwestern, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conneaut Area will take on Cochranton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cochranton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday. As for Northwestern, they will play host again and welcome Mercyhurst Prep, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mercyhurst Prep is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
