Basketball Recap: La Jolla Country Day Skates Past San Diego with Ease

La Jolla Country Day extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday, bumping them up to 4-0. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 65-31 win over the San Diego Cavers. The Torreys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 34 points or more this season.

Leading La Jolla Country Day to victory were Mahlia Washington and Kennedy Walton. Washington shot 57% from the field on her way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Walton went 6-for-11 to rack up 13 points along with four blocks and three steals. Washington continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucia Wright, who posted four points and six steals.

La Jolla Country Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

As for San Diego, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, San Diego had strong showings from Shanti Glenn, who earned two points and four steals, and Marilyn Daniel, who put up five points.

La Jolla Country Day didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-27 victory against Victory Christian Academy on the 4th. As for San Diego, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-33 loss against Mountain View on the 4th.
