Recap: La Jolla Country Day Torreys vs. Riverdale Baptist Crusaders

On Monday, La Jolla Country Day was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to Riverdale Baptist. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points La Jolla Country Day has scored all season.

Several Torreys players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Naomi Panganiban, who scored 18 points along with five assists. The match was Panganiban's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Safiyah Sugapong, who scored 16 points.

La Jolla Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Riverdale Baptist, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

La Jolla Country Day is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Willamette at 11:00 a.m. on December 19th. Willamette presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than La Jolla Country Day in their respective states (Willamette is ranked 20th in Oregon, while La Jolla Country Day is ranked 73rd in California). Riverdale Baptist won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Windward at 3:30 p.m. on December 19th. Windward will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
