Softball Recap: Albany Extends Winning Streak to Six

Albany had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the North Andrew Cardinals a 10-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Makena Moffat was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kennedi Epperly, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. Jayden Hillyard was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Albany hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Albany's record now sits at 6-1. As for North Andrew, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Albany didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-1 win against King City on the 11th. As for North Andrew, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-1 loss against Bishop LeBlond on the 10th.
