Soccer Game Preview: Shafter vs. Chavez

Shafter has gone 9-1 against Chavez recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Generals will head out on the road to square off against the Titans at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Tuesday, Shafter didn't have quite enough to beat Wasco and fell 3-2. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Shafter came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 470th, while Wasco are ranked 962nd).

Meanwhile, Chavez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 4-0 to Kennedy.

Shafter's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1-1 and their overall record down to 10-3-2. As for Chavez, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Shafter got the 'W' when the teams last played back in December of 2025 against Chavez by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
