Corning had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out the Enterprise Hornets 42-40. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 47-0 win the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Kaleb Flournoy went supernova, rushing for 201 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 57 yards. Ivan Jones was in the mix as well, providing Corning with two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Corning was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in four consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Enterprise's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Koby Johnson, who gained 311 total yards and three touchdowns, and Izaiah Mikell, who rushed for 88 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. Mikell didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles and defended one pass.

Corning wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 42-7 victory against University Prep on the 5th. As for Enterprise, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 32-3 loss against Oakland Tech on the 5th.
